Dry Lips? Here are five ways to fix them!

In the past couple of days, all because of the weather, my lips went through a whole new level of hell. My lip balms, which usually were very helpful and fixed any situation, stood helpless on my lips for a while, without changing anything. This brought the following treatments and solutions into my attention and because everyone deserves to have soft baby lips, this article will share everything you need to fix the problem.

Natural Remedies

And by this I really mean natural. If you are a reader of my blog, you probably know that I’m always looking for natural methods and solutions to fix any problems. From hair to skin, my first call is plant or oil-based. With my lips is no exception and the first ingredient that improved them drastically was honey.

Honey

Besides being a good moisturizer, honey is a good exfoliator that helps removing dry or dead skin. It prevents infection on cracked lips and speeds the healing process. This is the most effective treatment I have tried so far and I totally recommend it as it’s not only safe but delicious as well.

Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil is more effective than the lip balms that are based on it. This is because oils have a higher concentration of the ingredient in question and this allows us to benefit from the actual properties. Coconut oil nourishes the lips and protects them in the long term if applied daily or three times a week. This as well prevents infections and assures a fast healing process for your dry lips.

Aloe Vera

Aloe does the trick as well especially if you have access to an actual plant. Everyone recommended it when I explained the dry lips situation. Unfortunately for me, as I have sensitive skin, I’m not a fan as the gel from the leaf stings and turns my skin reddish for a few minutes. I tried instead organic, processed gels and yes, those worked just fine.

So, with the natural ingredients I fixed the entire situation, my lips are back on track and applying lipstick is no longer a burden. But what if you are always on the go and you can’t carry a jar of honey or coconut oil with you? This brings us to the next list, products that are easier to use and apply and still do the trick.

Vaseline Petroleum Jelly

Funny enough, the brand has its one lip balm treatment but still, the petroleum jelly does wonders compared to it. Vaseline grew in popularity recently and all the videos with beauty hacks include it. Why? Because this is really a good product that helps not only with dry lips but with skin as well. It softens and nourishes the skin while protecting and preventing it to get dry or dull. The good part? Now they have those cute baby versions as well, so you don’t have to carry an entire jar in your purse.

La RochePosay Cicaplast Baume Lips

I read that this one is recommended by dermatologists and truth to be told, it seems like the key for sore, red lips. It contains pro-vitamin B5 which not only heals the lips but creates a protective shield that keeps the fragile skin safe. The best part is that once you apply it, the pain goes away almost instantly. So, yes, £7 well spent, don’t you think?

I hope this article fixed your problems and you can now kiss chapped lips goodbye. The natural ingredients provide better care for your lips at home and the commercial ones allow you to continue and protect them while on the go. My advice? Best of both worlds, absolutely! Why? It’s more effective and cheaper and the results show up really fast.

Which method have you tried? My favourite, honey and coconut oil at home and La Roche- Posay for the go. 🙂

Love,

J.A
