Winter is already here and until a couple of days ago I had no idea whatsoever about what lipstick shade I should go for. This is when the research started and I went over and over again online and to a few stores as well to try and find out the answer. Some of my discoveries are not such a big of a surprise but others definitely managed to take my money away as I was apparently unprepared.
As I told you, this is no shocker considering that this is after all the most populat lipstick colour. This colour can translate into so many things that it is impossible not to go for it especially in the winter. It is festive and it will complete your glam look for the holidays in a second. Now, for a daily use, I recently discovered Guerlain’s ‘deliciously shiny lip colour’ in shade 020 poppy cap. You honeslty can’t call it a lipstick as it is actually a mix between a lip balm and a lipstick. It has this shiny and glossy effect, it can get really intense or discreet depending on the number of layers you will apply and it smells amazing, What makes me recommend it is actually the way in which hydrates your lips, leaving them soft and nourished. Even though it might be a bit expensive, don’t forget it’s Christmas and you can always add it to your wish list. Don’t worry, a separate article is coming out and you will learn everything about it.
My advice: Guerlain durring the day and Dior for the evening.
2. Deep Berry
A shade that really makes your lips look wider and fuller that seems to stay on the top no matter what. L’Oréal has a wide range if you are interested in this particular shade or derivates from it but I personally reccomend Sleek as I tested them, well, used them for more than 4 years now, and they never let me down. Check out their website here and you will see how many shades they have. You can thank me later!:)
3. Faded Rose
Well, this is the most talked about lip shade so far. Basically everyone believes it will turn out to be the colour of the season. It may be because it looks good on everyone but also because it’s feminine and discreet and most importantly, at least in my case, it works perfectly with cat eyes. Even though it might not be the best choice for New Year’s Eve, it will definitely do the trick for the rest of the holiday.
4. Dark Blue
Yes, it’s official, dark blue earned its rights to be in this top as so many celebrities, influencers and makeup gurus bombarded us with this shade that it basically forced it’s way to the top. Actually, is it a case of fake it until you make it? I consider this colour to be a burden especially when it starts coming off of your lips, or simply for my lips. I saw so many people rocking this colour but for me it’s not the case considering that I have thin lips and I honeslty don’t enjoy this idea of making them look even thiner.
5. Nudes, nudes, nudes
We have the Kardashian family to show us that this shade works no matter the season. It is definitely my favourite especially when I’m going for a natural makeup, when I’m going to uni or when I simply don’t want to put that much of an effort (it happens to all of us). From the brands I’ve tried so far Maybelline has actually my favourite shade, this is like an affordable option but since we were talking about them, Kylie Cosmetics is definitely the best choice but of course pricier. Your call!
Hope you enjoyed this article and if there’s any product in particular you want me to talk about and test it out, don’t hesitate to leave a comment. This top 5 managed to answer all my questions and put my search at rest. It is trully helpful especially when you don’t want to spend loads of money on products and turn out to be dissapointed. I was lucky enough to meet amazing people that shared their opinions and informations with me, from what is the most popular shade in store to what they personally think it should be, and thanks to all of them, this article is here to serve your needs!
