Monthly Fashion At My Door!

I haven’t got the chance yet to write about the September’s issues and I already got the October one from Vogue. What do you think about that? And people have the guts to tell me that I’m crazy and time isn’t actually flying that fast. Are you sure about that now?

Anyway, I will go ahead and talk about Elle magazine first because … well, because it was beyond my expectations. While travelling I purchased different fashion magazines from different countries and they are thin like a supermarket booklet. ( you know, the one with the monthly or weekly offers on chicken or alcohol or God knows what ) You pay just to find some commercials and a few words about someone’s experience in a field that doesn’t concern you at all. But boy, ELLE restored basically my faith in humanity. The interview with Angelina Jolie was exactly like a breath of fresh air, new, inspiring and empowering. Through the words she used to describe herself and the examples she gave, Jolie basically explained what feminism means and how powerful women really are. An absolutely touching interview showcasing the problems faced by us all over the world.

“The world needs more wicked women.”

While reading it, I couldn’t help but think of “The Second Sex” by Simone de Beauvoir which is considered to be the feminist ‘bible’. Personally I had no idea how beautiful Angelina Jolie speaks and how inspiring she is until I devoured every word of hers in ELLE UK. In case you missed this issue, here is the link to read the interview in full. Angelina Jolie for ELLE.

Besides the interview, I was astonished by the beautiful shootings especially because one of them helped me a lot with my university project. What were the chances? If you are into photography stay tuned because soon I will post an article on how to get the exact colour palettes used in fashion magazines using a software. Can you guess which one it is? Anyway, I usually buy fashion magazines to get inspired, either for my photography related work, blog or simply just to update my personal style. And I can honestly say that I got all that I was looking for this month. I mean, tartan skirt with golden belt? Statement accessories and elegant tweed? Can anyone say no to that?

The first thing I saw in BAZAAR was the Lanvin campaign and trust me when I say, I almost ripped it apart to put it in my sketchbook. But I didn’t, I have self control. This magazine has same as ELLE, an interview but this time with Miss Dior, Natalie Portman on the power of women. Even though the two actresses talk on the same subject, it is amazing to see how different their approaches and perspectives are just to find at the end the same valuable conclusion: Women need to stick together, they need to get angry if something bothers them, they need to get angry so that other women can hear them and get the courage to speak for themselves as well. And most important, women need to support each other. Portman talks about her horrible experiences that started when she was 13 years old but as well about how inspired she was by the women she met through the Time’s Up movement. Personally I am grateful for both interviews, they managed to touch me and inspire my future actions. Truth to be told, you can’t miss them out, so here’s the link to Natalie Portman’s interview.

The creator of Chanel’s makeup looks Lucia Pica gives us a tour of her Parisian home which sure enough will inspire your shopping list for the next IKEA visit. And of course the mood board for YSL’s new fragrance Libre gives me the feeling that it will turn into something iconic. Just wait until tomorrow because it’s the launching day, and tell me if I’m wrong.

So, as you can see, I can’t sum up one magazine, but two? Impossible. Let’s say that this article is a peek on what you missed in case you didn’t got the chance to buy them. But go ahead and check their websites on the links above and you will catch up. Can’t wait to move along on Vogue’s October issue and a glass of wine, sounds like party or not?

Hope you enjoyed the interviews as much as I did! What is your favourite magazine? If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask me on the comment section, Instagram or by sending an email. I will respond to everything before Friday, anything after that, well, perhaps on Monday! šŸ™‚
