Best Drugstore Makeup Part I

Today I am going to share with you 5 affordable products, all from the drugstore, all tested by myself. Next time when you go shopping, you will know exactly what to buy. Let’s get started with Part I:

Setting Powder

Baking, baking, baking never stop baking! It is well known that a good translucid powder can change the entire makeup and we all need to have at least one in our makeup drawer. But which one should we buy when there are so many options and brands? Face Studio rings any bells? Maybelline Face Studio setting powder for $8.99 does what others only dream about. It gives a perfect finish to your makeup and persists throughout the day. I was quite surprised when I found this one and this is because I feel there is a big whole in terms of setting powders with drugstore prices that offer a good quality product as well.

Peachy Cheeks

Brighten up with the Essence peach powder, the perfect summer blush that will magically blend and smooth your skin. The mattifying compact powder mixes well with both powder and creamy contours, and it’s best suited for shaping and bronzing your cheeks. A really good product that costs only $4.50 and can be used as a matt highlighter as well!

Voluminous Lashes

I feel like L’Oréal and Maybelline have this inside war on who creates the best mascara and I’m just sitting here waiting for the next product to come out. Despite that, I chose L’Oréal Volume Million Lashes for now, because I feel it’s more soft and discreet, doesn’t leave a lot of residue as Maybelline or clumps and it dries faster as well. I have small lashes and this is the one that so far made me happy because it is not that obvious that you wear mascara, it feels and looks more natural. The brush separates the lashes for a beautiful fanned-out effect and it has the perfect formula to achieve a volumized appearance.

Matte My Lips

Kylie Jenner’s lips are to die for, all the lipstick shades she uses makes them look fuller and shaped. But what is the equivalent for that with a drugstore price? Sleek, no doubt. Sleek is my all time favourite in terms of liquid lipstick. The Matte Me collection has even a longer lasting than Kylie Jenner’s one. Can you believe that? Birthday Suit is my favourite shade and apparently the best seller but they provide so many it makes it almost impossible not to satisfy everyone. The texture of this liquid lipstick and the formula provide a matte natural finish that doesn’t require a second application. Believe it or not, it lasts almost one day! Sleek on Fleek!

Conceal, dear!

Say hello again to Maybelline, they really know how to please the market as they came to our help with the SuperStay concealer. Even though I’m not a fan of the sponge on the other end, it does a pretty decent job, but the concealer itself is a killer. A cream to matte finish that allows you to use it either as a concealer, highlighter, foundation or contour that indeed lasts for a long period of time. Personally I use it as a concealer and I’m really happy with the results so far. It costs only $9.98 and yes, it’s totally worth the money! The only down on this one is that you don’t have a lot of product, so if you were to use it as foundation it won’t last a lot. 😦

    1. Really glad you found the article helpful! I was quite surprised myself as I never actually trusted foundation sticks, I don’t know why. But with this one I was impressed and it works even better if you add a bit of powder on top of it, it actually looks natural. Wishing you all the best on your maternity leave!
